Artist Statement: 

"The Price of Milk" speaks to a few of my subconscious currents: concerned about having milk in the morning and butter (#butteryellow pants are supposed to be butter pats on the checkers) at night, the persistence of stacked bowls- I am always arranging and rearranging things at the house, in the studio- and always a low level fixation on "Adventure Time", where everything is made of candy. 

I'm particularly obsessed with marshmallows- specifically the multi-colored twisted ones. 

I've taken to dressing in primary colors, in order to combat my all black all the time. As of late, this has very much impacted my work and its palette, and very much on view in this piece. I've been spending time in the garden at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, so that's here too, with the beautiful trees, weeding the poison hemlock so other edible things can grow.
